About

Cameron Henderson is a guitarist known for his stylistic versatility. In a week he can be seen playing classical guitar recitals, blues gigs, soul/funk gigs, pro musical theatre shows, jazz gigs, gypsy swing gigs, and experimental music performances.

Cameron studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music from 2008-2011 under Greg Pikler and Raffaelle Agostino and graduated with a Bachelor of Music (honours) which included a research thesis ‘Investigating the capacity of the classical guitar technique to perform non-western music’.

Freelance performance credits include playing in the BBC’s ‘Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular’season at the Sydney Opera house in December 2012 and February 2015, recording sessions with ‘The Song Company’(Australia’s premier vocal group), performances in the orchestra for Disney’s ‘Mary Poppins’at the Capitol Theatre (2011), being invited to play at a master-class with renowned Spanish guitar virtuoso Ricardo Gallen (2011).

Cameron is also a composer and composes original music for self titled project ‘Cameron James Henderson’and his trio ‘Dubious Blues Trio’. Cameron has released an Ep under his own name and an album with his band ‘Dubious Blues Trio’. Cameron was also a finalist in the ‘Songs of the Southern Skies’composition competition (2012) composing a piece called‘Daintree’for classical guitar and soprano.

Cameron has also made numerous live radio and television appearances in various ensembles and currently teaches the classical guitar masterclass and ensemble at the Australian Institute of Music.
