About

Starting out as a rhythm guitarist and vocalist in local bands around his hometown of Blenheim, New Zealand, Barry soon moved to Wellington and formed a band called ‘SIMPLE IMAGE’. After two years on the road the band managed to reach #1 on the charts with a song called “Spinning, Spinning, Spinning”. Barry then crossed the ditch to Sydney, Australia working in Clubs and Festivals plus touring the country with legendary bands such as 'BAKERY' and 'SUPERMARKET'. Both these bands were well respected amongst musicians and critics. Eventually he formed 'THE BARRY LEEF BAND' which became the in-house band at The Sydney Musicians Club for many years.

?Along the way Barry became more involved in studio work and became one of Sydney’s best known voices, having been featured on hundreds of TV and Radio advertisements over three decades. During this time Barry represented Australia by performing in many song and music festivals around the world, which included performing with Frank Zappa, Elvin Bishop, Tom Jones, George Duke and Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter to name a few.

?For almost two decades Barry has specialized in a 70s Classic & West Coast Rock show that has been in constant demand. Last year he handpicked a selection of superb songs and to showcase his unique interpretive skills, created his latest album ‘RHYTHMIZED’, which has met with instant critical acclaim and fan appreciation. Produced and Arranged by KERE BUCHANAN, this quality record has been picked up around the world by Smooth Jazz radio formats.
